Agrivet Services head office is located in Havelock North, within easy reach of Hastings, Napier and surrounding areas. The South Island office is located in Christchurch on the outskirts of the city and is the base for trials all around the South Island.
The Havelock North horticulture research station is a three hectare block comprising of apples, grapes, pears and stone fruit. There are also areas for vegetable and broadacre crops. The offices are located on these premises, as well as a separate, fully bunded chemical store, and a constantly alarmed and monitored walk-in freezer specifically designed for GLP trials, and a laboratory.
Also in the Hawke’s Bay is a six hectare animal research station is situated in rural Hastings, 30 minutes from the head office. This block has been carefully and specifically designed for large animal trials. The block consists of thirteen double electrified fences for trials, and four larger paddocks for pre-trial acclimatisation and drench quarantine areas. Also located on this block are cattle and sheep handling yards, and facilities for end-point studies (worm count and GLP tissue residue studies).
The head office facilities also include an insectaria for maintenance and breeding of blowflies for bioassays and larval implant studies, and rearing larvae collected for blowfly identification.
